An encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of three Army personnel, including two captains, and the injuries of three more.
Two captains and a havaldar died in the encounter, according to officials.
Among those who lost their lives, one is Agra's brave heart Captain Shubham Gupta of the 9 Paras regiment.
Who Was Captain Shubham Gupta?
The son of Agra District Government Counsel (Crime) Basant Kumar Gupta, Captain Shubham, joined the army in 2015.
Captain Gupta was stationed in Jammy and Kasmir, but he was born in Agra. His parents still live in the Taj Nagri neighbourhood of the city.
He first donned the olive-green uniform in 2018, after graduating from one of the Army's military academies and being commissioned into the Army's elite Parachute regiment, also known as the 9 Para SF (Special Forces).
Relatives and close friends began assembling at Captain Shubham Gupta's house shortly after the tragic news broke, shock and sorrow evident in their hearts.
About Rajouri Encounter
During the encounter, two jawans and a major were hurt, and the injured had been taken to the Army's Command Hospital in Udhampur, said officials.
After a cordon-and-search operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army forces engaged in combat with terrorists in the Bajimaal area of Dharmsal, according to the police.
