Chamba News: After a man died in Himachal's freezing weather, his pet was found standing guard for four days while it snowed heavily. A video of the moment, which went viral, re-established the popular belief that a dog truly is a man's most loyal friend.
The incident took place in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district, where the rescue team finally recovered the bodies of two cousins who went missing during a snowstorm in the Bharmour region. In the weather, anyone would refuse to step out; a pet pitbull was found guarding the body of 13-year-old Piyush Kumar.
The video of the pitbull dog found alive near the dead body has emerged and is now going viral, with social media users finding it an example of peak loyalty.

What Is The Case
Two cousins, Piyush Kumar and Viksit Rana,19, had ventured toward the Bharmani Mata Temple on January 22 to record videos, but the duo lost contact with their families after getting trapped in heavy snowfall.
The duo was later found dead after the rescue team reached the spot. While Piyush’s body was found under the layers of snow, a pet pitbull was found sitting next to his body, leaving onlookers emotional. The dog reportedly belongs to Viksit.
“The pet belonged to Viksit Rana but was found keeping watch near Piyush’s body,” said Bharmour MLA Janak Raj.

How Did The Rescue Take place
The search was hampered by extreme weather and high-altitude terrain. Though authorities briefly established mobile contact with one of the teenagers on January 23, the signal was lost shortly after.

The search operation was resumed on January 26 after a failed attempt on January 25. Five personnel and local guides were airdropped onto the Chutadiya peak, while the ground team advanced on foot through deep snow.
The rescue team located the tents at 9.30 AM on Monday. The first victim was traced at 10 AM and airlifted, followed by the second victim at 1.35 PM.
