Chambal Expressway: 402 km stretch of the Chambal Expressway, also known as the Atal Progressway, is going to connect three states in India - Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In 2021, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had announced the construction of this expressway. After this, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) also issued a notice to prepare the DPR (Detailed Project Report). The expressway is likely to have 72 km of road in Rajasthan, 314 km in Madhya Pradesh and 23 km in Etawah. The Chambal Expressway will begin from Simaliya in Kota, Rajasthan, pass through Madhya Pradesh and end at Nanawa in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.

This Chambal Expressway will be good for industrial development as well as tourism. Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, Kuno National Park and Chambal Sanctuary, all these will fall on the route of Chambal Expressway.

It will also be easy for you to reach Etawah in UP from Kota in Rajasthan. The journey which you usually complete in about 12 hours will now take only five to six hours to complete.

Preparations are also underway to connect the Chambal Expressway in Kota to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Apart from Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the Chambal Expressway can also be connected to Bundelkhand Expressway and Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Expressway.

The work on the Chambal Expressway has not started yet because only the alignment work has been completed in Madhya Pradesh. The work of land acquisition is still pending. This project was first started by the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh in 2020. He gave the green signal to this proposal. In 2021, it was included in the first phase of the Bharatmala project. After this, its construction approval was issued in 2022 and a notice was also issued to prepare the DPR.
