At least one person died, while nearly 35 were injured after eight coaches Of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Uttar Pradesh's Gonda in Uttar Pradesh around 2:35 PM on Thursday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the train accident in the Gonda district.
The CM also directed the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work. He instructed for proper treatment of the injured, according to an official statement by CMO.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has also been briefed about the accident and is currently monitoring the situation.
Due to The derailment of 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express on the down line between Motiganj-Jhilahi stations on the Barabanki-Gorakhpur railway section of North Eastern Railway, a helpline number has been issued for the assistance of railway passengers.
Railways Ministry also announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakhs to the family of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakhs for those who suffered grievous injury and Rs. 50,000 to the minor injured. Besides the CRS enquiry, a high-level enquiry has also been ordered, according to an official report by Indian Railways.

A 40-member medical team and 15 ambulances are at the spot and more medical teams and ambulances are being rushed there, Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar said.
Senior railway and local administration officials are at the spot to oversee rescue operations.
The incident comes just a month after at least nine people were killed and several others injured after a goods train rammed into a Kolkata-bound stationary train in West Bengal’s Darjeeling. The collision caused the two bogies of the Kanchanjunga Express to be derailed.
The incident has ignited a row with the Opposition questioning the Central government over the increasing number of train accidents.
Notably, this is the 25th railway accident ever since Ashwini Vaishnaw took charge as Railways Minister in July 2021, including the Odisha train accident that killed 296 people. As many as 1,200 people were injured in the accident.
