Andhra Pradesh: Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the fourth time, following his party's resounding victory in the Assembly polls. The swearing-in ceremony saw 24 members of his cabinet also taking the oath. Naidu's son Nara Lokes also took oath as Minister.
The grand event, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP chief JP Nadda, took place on the outskirts of Vijayawada. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Naidu with a hug after the oath-taking.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, who led the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Janasena alliance to a massive win in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, was sworn in as the chief minister at Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram Airport. Accompanying Naidu, Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan also took the oath as a deputy chief minister, marking his entry into the state cabinet.
Earlier on Tuesday, Naidu met Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada and formally staked claim to form the government. He was accompanied by his party allies, Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari.
In the 2014 election, Naidu became the first Chief Minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh and served until 2019. After losing the 2019 polls, he remained an opposition leader until 2024. Following a landslide victory in the 2024 elections, winning 164 of the 175 assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, Naidu is returning as the CM for a fourth term, ousting the YSRCP.
