Chandrayaan-3, which was launched on July 14, entered into the lunar orbit on August 5. It was placed into the orbit by India's heavy lift rocket LVM3. After its entry, orbit reduction maneuvers were carried out on August 6, 9, 14 and 16. ISRO is conducting a series of maneuvers to gradually reduce Chandrayaan-3's orbit and position it over the lunar poles.
In the next step Lander Module will descend to a slightly lower orbit around the Moon on Friday. Once on the Moon, the lander will photograph the Pragyaan rover, which will deploy its instruments to study seismic activity on the lunar surface.
