Char Dham Yatra: The Char Dham Yatra, one of India's most revered pilgrimages, draws lakhs of devotees each year to the holy shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, nestled in Uttarakhand’s Himalayan ranges. However, unpredictable weather in the region can often affect travel plans. To help pilgrims prepare, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a detailed weather forecast for the area from May 6 to May 10, 2025.
The IMD has warned of challenging weather conditions during this period, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, snowfall, and strong winds. Pilgrims are urged to stay alert, take precautions, and monitor official advisories closely.
Badrinath Weather Update (May 6 to May 10, 2025)
Badrinath, located in Chamoli district, is expected to witness intense weather activity over the five-day period. Heavy rain is predicted from May 6 to 8, with thunderstorms and lightning likely on May 6 and 7. May 8 could also bring strong storms and lightning, with the possibility of more heavy showers.
From May 6 to 10, the area may also experience snowfall in isolated locations, particularly in the earlier days. There’s a risk of hailstorms on May 6 and 7, along with gusty winds reaching 40–50 km/h throughout the week. Pilgrims and local residents are advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow weather updates regularly.

The forecast through May 10 includes chances of hailstorms in the earlier days and strong winds (40–50 km/h) continuing over several days. Authorities advise pilgrims to stay updated through official channels and exercise extreme caution during outdoor travel or temple visits.
Gangotri and Yamunotri Weather Update (May 6 to May 8, 2025)
In the Uttarkashi district, where Gangotri and Yamunotri are located, the weather is expected to be comparatively mild. From May 6 to May 8, these areas may see light rain and isolated thunderstorms, with no severe weather warnings issued by the IMD.
