Chardham Yatra 2025: Temples Opening Date
The opening dates for the temples are set: the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri will open on April 30, followed by Kedarnath on May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. Hemkund Sahib is scheduled to open on May 25. Yogendra Gangwar, the Joint Director of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council, reminded devotees that registration is mandatory for participation in the Yatra.
In addition to the registration process, the toll-free helpline for pilgrims has been active, resolving 2,098 queries by Saturday and another 828 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pilgrims on the Chardham Yatra may face a 10-20 per cent increase in bus and taxi fares starting April 30, coinciding with the opening of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham. The fare hike is attributed to rising costs of diesel, insurance and maintenance. The Chardham Yatra Joint Rotation has urged the government to approve the increase, citing outdated fare structures.
The Transport Department is in discussions, with the State Transport Authority expected to decide soon. Currently, taxi fares are calculated based on a minimum of 80 kilometers.
