Chennai News: Seven individuals have been arrested by the Nolambur police for kidnapping a peddler in Nolambur as he failed to deliver ganja. The victim, identified as 23-year-old I Silambarasan from Thottiyam in Tiruchi, was rescued immediately following a complaint. Silambarasan currently resides in Mogappair.

During the arrest, two men named D Jai Ganesh, 24, from Nolambur and R Gautham, 22, from Mogappair West suffered fractured hands while attempting to escape from police custody.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Jai Ganesh had given Silambarasan Rs 30000 to purchase ganja. However, as Silambarasan failed to deliver as promised, Jai Ganesh and his group confronted him, leading to an argument. Eventually, Jai Ganesh and his friends kidnapped Silambarasan and his friend Poovarasan, who had attempted to rescue him. Including Jai Ganesh and Gautham, the police also arrested S Iyyappan, 22, from Maduravoyal, V Rajesh, 25, from Maduravoyal, M Varun, 19, from Nolambur, M Vinod Kumar, 19, from Nerkundram, and S Rajesh, 21, from Maduravoyal.

With the help of mobile phone tracking, Nolambur Inspector Kalvi Arasan located Silambarasan at a petrol station in Ambattur. The police arrested all seven suspects. A case was registered based on a complaint from Lakshmi, and the Nolambur police remanded the suspects in judicial custody.

In a separate incident, the MGR Nagar police arrested five individuals, including a woman, for smuggling and selling ganja tablets. After appearing in court, they were remanded in judicial custody. The police stopped a woman riding a scooter on Anna Main Road and, upon questioning, discovered that she provided inconsistent statements. A female police officer conducted a search and found that she was carrying 200 drug tablets in 20 strips.

The woman, identified as Sara, was taken to the police station for further interrogation. It was revealed that Sara had obtained the drug tablets from Karnataka and was delivering them to her associates involved in peddling the tablets. Based on this information, the police arrested Sara's accomplices named Bhoopathy, Karthik, Rajesh, and Eswar. A case has been registered, and all five suspects have been remanded to jail.
