Chennai News: A known criminal named Raja, also referred to as "Seizing Raja," was shot dead during an encounter in the Akkarai area of Chennai on Monday morning. According to reports, Raja had been arrested in Andhra Pradesh the previous day and was brought back to Chennai for further questioning when the encounter occurred. Police claim that he was shot in self-defence during the incident.
This encounter marks the second such event in Chennai within a week and the third since the murder of an accused linked to the killing of BSP leader Armstrong. Further details about the encounter are still pending.

In a related incident earlier on September 18, Tamil Nadu police confirmed the death of another notorious criminal, Kakka Thoppu Balaji, during a police encounter in Vyasarpadi, Chennai. This incident took place around 4:30 am during routine vehicle checks at the Mullaiagar Checkpost. When officers stopped a suspicious vehicle, Balaji, who was inside, attempted to flee.
A brief chase ensued, leading to Balaji's encounter with the police in a secluded area. During the altercation, he reportedly engaged with the officers, resulting in his death. Balaji had a long criminal record, with numerous cases involving robbery, extortion and other serious offences. The second individual in the vehicle has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated for further details regarding their activities and any potential accomplices.
