Chennai Peripheral Ring Road: Spanning 132.87 Km in length, the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR) aims to improve connectivity in Tamil Nadu. The Six-lane, access-controlled expressway will connect Ennore Port to Mahabalipuram by joining major highways. The CPRR project, being built at an estimated cost of Rs 12,301 crore, is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The Tamil Nadu Road Development Company (TNRDC) is the implementing agency for the project.
The aspirational Chennai Peripheral Ring Road will pass through seven major towns in Chennai, including Singaperumalkoil, Sriperumbudur, Tiruvallur, Tamaraipakkam, Periyapalayam, Puduvoyal, and Kattupalli.
Once completed, the expressway will provide connectivity to major highways such as NH5 (Chennai–Tada), NH4 (Chennai–Bengaluru), NH45 (Chennai–Tiruchi), and East Coast Road, or ECR.

Service lanes for local traffic, along with six-lane roads, will be there to smooth vehicular movement.
As per the Magicbrick Report, the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road will connect Ennore and Kattupalli ports.
The Chennai Peripheral Ring Road will take the regional connectivity to the next level as it will link with major NHAI projects like the Bangalore-Chennai and Chittoor-Thatchur expressways
With a speed of 120 km/h, the CPRR will use an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) for traffic management and road safety.
In another bid to improve connectivity from Chennai to Kolkata, the Indian Railways is set to introduce the Amrit Bharat Express train from Howrah to Chennai in the financial year 2025-26. The Howrah-Chennai Amrit Bharat Express will travel via Visakhapatnam and cover a distance of 1,662 km in under 26 hours. The special train will operate twice a week and can hit a maximum speed of 130 km per hour.
