The Uttar Pradesh government is set to enhance infrastructure and commuter facilities along two of its major expressways by constructing 12 modern e-way hubs. According to the action plan drafted by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), four hubs will be built along the Bundelkhand Expressway and eight on the Purvanchal Expressway.

These e-way hubs will offer a range of amenities including petrol and CNG stations, EV charging centres, drinking water and sanitation facilities, food courts, hotels, business centres, children’s play zones, theme parks, and logistics hubs. CCTV surveillance systems will be installed at each location to ensure enhanced security.

The blueprint was approved during a recent UPEIDA meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. On the Bundelkhand Expressway, the hubs will span a total of 40 hectares, with developments planned in Banda (10 hectares, right side), Hamirpur (10 hectares, left side), and Jalaun (two hubs on both sides of the road).

For the Purvanchal Expressway, e-way hubs will cover approximately 81.89 hectares. Locations include Barabanki (10 hectares, left side), Amethi (10.12 hectares, right side), Mau (10.10 hectares, left side), and Ghazipur (10.52 hectares, right side). Dual-side hubs will also be developed in Sultanpur and Azamgarh.

In addition to these hubs, UPEIDA has proposed plans to develop industrial and commercial zones along the expressways to boost economic growth and regional development.
