Chennai Power Cut: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) on Saturday stated that several areas of Chennai will face power outage on May 19 due to ongoing maintenance works. The authority stated that the power supply will be disrupted for five hours between 9 am and 2 pm, adding that the power supply will be restored once the maintenance work is finished. In a press release, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board advised the residents to follow the guidelines to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the TANGEDCO stated that power supply will remain disrupted in several key areas, adding that the maintenance work is being carried out ahead of monsoon to boost the power infrastructure of the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

These Areas To Face Power Outage On May 17
Apart from this, the TANGEDCO on Friday stated that multiple regions of Chennai will also face the power outage on May 17. While providing details, it stated that areas, includig Kannapalayam, Parivakkam, Oilcheri, Pidarithangal, Kolappancheri, Banaveduthottam, Rayala Nagar 1st 2nd Street , Bharathi Salai, Valluvar Salai Junction and North, Aandavan Nagar, SRM University, Bharathi Nagar, Thirumalai Nagar, Sabari Nagar,Sri Ram Nagar, Mugalivakkam Area, Subhasri Nagar, Mugalivakkam Main Road, Kamala Nagar, Kamatchi Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Ashramam Avenue, Krishnaveni Nagar, and AGS Colony will face power outage from 9 am to 5 pm.

In a separate news, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) announced to install 400 CCTV cameras, equipped with artificial intelligence to address rising complaints about open dumping. The authority stated that the initiative will cost around Rs 3.63 crore. Tenders have been issued for cameras to be placed at key dumping hotspots, 109 processing centres, and the Kodungaiyur and Perungudi dump yards.
