Chennai Power Cut Sept 21, 22: Chennai Residents in parts of Koyambedu Market and nearby localities will face power interruptions this weekend and early next week due to maintenance work at the 33 kV Koyambedu Market Power Station.
According to Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO), supply will be suspended on Saturday, 21 September and Sunday, 22 September, between 9 AM and 5 PM. The shutdown has been planned to carry out urgent work on the 11 kV bus bay extension and for the installation of the 11 kV Power Transformer–III.

Officials added that electricity will be restored once the work is completed and, if possible, supply may resume before 2 PM on both days.
The affected areas include Srinivasa Nagar, Bhaktavaschalam Road, Semathaman Nagar, Idar Road, Mettukulam, New Colony, Thiruveethi Amman Koil Street, Chinmaya Nagar, Nelkundram, Azhwar Thiru Nagar, Mookambika Nagar, Alagammal Nagar, Krishna Nagar, and Bhubaneswar Nagar.
TANGEDCO has urged residents in these localities to make necessary arrangements during the outage period.
In separate news, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for three key port projects in Tamil Nadu from Bhavnagar, Gujarat. At Chennai Port, Rs 33 crore will be spent to retrofit and strengthen an 850-metre revetment to protect the harbour from cyclones and erosion, based on IIT-Madras recommendations.
At Kamarajar Port, projects worth Rs 83 crore were announced, including upgrading firefighting facilities at eight vulnerable locations and developing a concrete road from NCTPS road to the coal stack yard along with reconstruction of two bridges. Officials said the works aim to boost safety, prevent disruptions and improve efficiency of port operations.
