Chennai News: A 45-year-old man in Chennai allegedly killed his wife and two young sons before taking his own life at their home in Injambakkam, police said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the man, believed to be under severe financial stress, was found dead with his throat slit. His wife, aged 35 and their two sons, aged 14 and 11, were discovered with plastic covers over their faces. Police said there were no signs of struggle, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after post-mortem.

The incident came to light around 8 AM, when police were alerted by neighbours. A suicide note recovered from the house reportedly mentioned the man’s mounting debts as a possible reason behind the act.
The family, originally from Salem, had been living in Chennai for some time and had moved into their Injambakkam residence only three months ago. Police have registered a case and are investigating further to determine the sequence of events.
In separate news, a senior citizen in Chennai lost nearly Rs 2 lakh to an online scam while she was at her bank trying to prevent the fraud. The woman had earlier called what she believed was the SBI Besant Nagar branch using a number found online. The call was redirected to a toll-free number, where a man claiming to be the bank manager, “Anup Kumar,” asked her to download an app through an APK file sent on WhatsApp.
After installing the file, she grew suspicious and went to the branch, where officials confirmed no such employee existed. While she was pleading with staff to update her registered phone number, three OTPs arrived on her phone and Rs 1.99 lakh was withdrawn from her account. The money was transferred to a Bandhan Bank account in Ghaziabad and another UPI ID. A bank employee later froze her account and the victim has filed a complaint with the Greater Chennai Police.
