Chennai Traffic Advisory: The Greater Chennai Police has announced a traffic advisory for the visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, January 31, 2025. To ensure smooth traffic flow, special arrangements will be in place from 2 PM to 10 PM
Motorists travelling from Chennai Airport to the East Coast Road (ECR) are advised to use Rajiv Gandhi Salai, also known as Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), as an alternative route during the specified hours. All commercial vehicles will be prohibited from using the Airport-ECR route during this time.

According to the Tambaram City police, Mr. Dhankhar and other dignitaries will visit the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD) in Muttukadu at approximately 4:55 PM To facilitate this visit, road diversions will be enforced from 4 PM to 11:30 PM on OMR and ECR.
Vehicles travelling from Sholinganallur to Akkarai will be redirected at the Sholinganallur junction via OMR. Additionally, vehicles coming from Mahabalipuram on ECR will be diverted at the Kovalam junction-Kelambakkam intersection.
For those coming from Thiruporur on OMR, diversions will take place at the Kelambakkam junction. Motorists heading towards the airport can use OMR and the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road or GST Road.
To minimise congestion during peak hours, all heavy vehicles will be restricted on OMR, ECR, and the 200 Feet Radial Road between 2 PM and 11:30 PM. These measures aim to ensure a hassle-free experience for both residents and visiting officials during the VIP visit.
