Chennai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in three Tamil Nadu districts, including: Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari for isolated heavy rainfall. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted heavy showers for the next two days. As per the bulletin released by the RMC, light to moderate rain is likely in several parts of South Tamil Nadu, while isolated showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, could occur in North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. In addition, shallow to moderate fog and mist may be present in parts of North Tamil Nadu during the early morning hours. Moderate rain and morning fog is likely in Chennai. As per IMD, over the next 48 hours, the city may experience early morning drizzles and partly cloudy skies, with temperatures expected to hover around 31 degrees Celsius during the day and 21 degrees Celsius at night.
Weather experts note that the current spell of rain is part of a near-normal to slightly above-normal rainfall pattern forecast for Tamil Nadu until February 6. However, rainfall is expected to gradually decrease, with dry weather likely to set in by next week.
