Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will begin from Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh and go to Shamli in western part of the state. The construction work is expected to start soon. Once the Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is ready, the distance between the two districts will be reduced by 200 kilometres and will be covered in just 6 hours. The expressway will enable people to reach Haridwar, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh smoothly and significantly reduce travel time. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has appointed a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). After finalizing the project report, land acquisition for the expressway will begin. The cost of its construction is likely to be around Rs 35,000 crore.

The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will be 700-kilometres long. It will also be a six-lane greenfield corridor and pass through 22 districts and 37 tehsils in the state. Currently, people of western UP have to go through the Agra-Lucknow Expressway to reach Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway Routes

The Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will connect the eastern end of Uttar Pradesh to the western end of the state. Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway will pass through: Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sambhal, Bijnor, Amroha, Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli.

Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway To Connect Haridwar-Mussoorie

After the Gorakhpur-Shamli Expressway is fully constructed, it will be possible to travel from Eastern UP to Western UP i.e. from Gorakhpur to Shamli in just 6 hours. It will also take only 2 hours to go from Shamli to Haridwar, which means that one can reach from Gorakhpur to Shamli in just 8 hours. If you wish to travel to Dehradun, you can reach there from Haridwar in just 1 hour and from there you will reach Mussoorie in just 1 hour. People will be able to reach Rishikesh by driving for just 30 minutes from Haridwar.
