Chennai News: In a move to upgrade the Tambaram yard's engineering and signaling infrastructure, the Southern Railway has announced a series of train schedule changes and cancellations from July 23 to August 18. This remodeling project is set to impact travellers across the region.
Commencing on July 23, the railway authorities have decided to cancel two popular train services - the Tambaram-Nagercoil Antyodaya Superfast Express (train no. 20691) and the Nagercoil-Tambaram Antyodaya Express (20692). This suspension of services will remain in effect until July 31, according to The Hindu report.

Additionally, 19 other train services will undergo partial cancellations and changes to their originating stations. Passengers travelling on the Chennai Egmore-Madurai Vaigai Express (12635), the Chennai Egmore-Tiruchirappalli Rocket Express (12653), and the Karaikkudi-Chennai Egmore Pallavan Superfast Express (12606) will find their journeys terminating at Chengalpattu railway station from July 24 to August 1.
Furthermore, seven train services, including the Tambaram-New Tinsukia Express (15929), the Jasidih-Tambaram Superfast Express (12376), Tambaram-Jasidih Superfast Express (12375), Tambaram-Nagercoil Superfast Express (22657), Nagercoil-Tambaram Superfast Express (22658), New Tinsukia-Tambaram Weekly Express (15930), Silghat Town-Tambaram Nagaon Express (15630), Tambaram-Silghat Town Express (15629) and the Tambaram-Santragach Antyodaya Express (22842), will have their operations restricted to the Egmore railway station during this period.

The railway authorities have also announced the diversion of seven train services, including the Bikaner-Madurai Superfast Express (22632), the Egmore-Salem Superfast (22153), the Puducherry-New Delhi Express (22403) and the Rameswaram-Banaras Weekly Superfast (22535). These trains will skip the Egmore and Tambaram stations, with some being routed through Chengalpattu, Arakkonam and Perambur.
The Tiruchi-Bhagat Ki Kothi Humsafar Express (20482) and the Lokmanyatilak-Karaikal Express (11017) will also be diverted on July 27, while the Rameswaram-Ayodhya Cantonment Shraddha Sethu Superfast train (22613) will be diverted via Chengalpattu and Perambur, bypassing Egmore, on July 28.
