Chennai Train Updates: Western Railway has announced adjustments to the composition of two pairs of express trains operating from Chennai Central. Starting from February 1 to February 22, the Ahmedabad – Dr MGR Chennai Central Express (Train Nos. 20954/20953) will see the addition of one AC Three Tier coach in place of one General Second Class coach, departing from Ahmedabad. The change will also apply to trains leaving Dr MGR Chennai Central from February 7 to February 28.
Similarly, the Ekta Nagar – Dr MGR Chennai Central Express (Train Nos. 20920/20919) will have one AC Three Tier coach added instead of one General Second Class coach. This will be effective from Ekta Nagar between February 5 and February 26, and from Dr MGR Chennai Central between February 2 and February 23.

After these changes, the updated coach composition for both trains will include two AC Two Tier coaches, six AC Three Tier coaches, six Sleeper Class coaches, three General Second Class coaches, one Divyangjan-friendly Second Class coac and a Luggage cum Brake Van, as per a release from Southern Railway.
Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the city on Friday, January 31. Traffic restrictions will be in place from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Motorists traveling from Chennai Airport to East Coast Road (ECR) are advised to take Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) as an alternative. Commercial vehicles will be restricted on the Airport-ECR route during these hours.
According to Tambaram City Police, the Vice President and other dignitaries will visit the NIEPMD in Muttukadu around 4:55 p.m. Traffic diversions will be enforced from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on OMR and ECR.
Vehicles from Sholinganallur to Akkarai will be diverted via OMR, while those from Mahabalipuram on ECR must take the Kovalam-Kelambakkam route. Heavy vehicles will be restricted on key roads to prevent congestion.
