Chennai Weather: As the Northeast Monsoon strengthens over Tamil Nadu, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several districts, including Chennai. The city and surrounding areas have been placed on "yellow alert," signaling the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.

The weather forecast for thursday indicates heavy to very heavy rainfall across several parts of Tamil Nadu, with Chennai and surrounding districts expected to experience significant downpours. Residents are advised to prepare for wet conditions throughout the day.

Cyclone Senyar Continues In Coastal Areas

The Senyar Cyclone is continuing its north-northwestward path and is expected to approach the coasts of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and southern Andhra Pradesh within the next 48 hours.

After Cyclone Senyar moves away from the Indian coast, a new low-pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression. This system could develop into a cyclonic storm, which, if it does, will be named "Cyclone Ditwah."

The storm is expected to impact Chennai and surrounding regions, including Puducherry and the southern Andhra Pradesh coast. Rapid intensification of this system could bring heavy rainfall to southern states in the coming days.
