Chennai Weather Update: Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu are bracing for a spell of wet weather, with light to moderate showers expected over the next two days. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast cloudy skies and issued weather alerts for multiple districts, warning residents to prepare for intermittent rain and potential thunderstorms.

The Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts are under alert for extremely heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls on May 25 and 26. Residents are advised to stay cautious and take necessary precautions during this period.

As per IMD, Light to moderate rain, accompanied by lightning, is expected at isolated places in districts including Dindigul, Tenkasi, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Vellore, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Madurai, Thirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Dharmapuri, and Salem. Residents may experience waterlogging, slippery roads, and minor traffic disruptions in affected areas.

Rainfall Forecast Across Tamil Nadu

Several districts including Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, and Madurai, have also received warnings for very heavy rain along with thunderstorms and squalls. Meanwhile, Thiruchirapalli, Salem, and Thiruvarur are on watch for potential lightning, thunderstorms, and squalls.

Coimbatore recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8 degrees C today, which is notably 7.1 degrees C below the normal temperature for this time of year. Other temperature readings include Yercaud at 23.0 degrees C, Tiruchirapalli at 35.1 degrees C, Ooty at 15.6 degrees C, Chennai (Meenambakkam) at 36.0 degrees C, and Pondicherry at 33.8 degrees C.
