Chennai Weather Alert: Several coastal districts across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Nagapattinam, and Cuddalore, received light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday. This spell marks a significant break from the prolonged dry period. Prompting this, the India Meteorological Department has forecast one or two spells of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across several parts of the city.
According to the weather forecast, similar weather conditions are likely to prevail until December 18. The maximum temperature is expected to stay at 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will drop to 21 degrees Celsius.

Chennai Weather: Check Area-Wise Forecast
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) stated that a convergence in easterly winds has revived rainfall activity across the region, with these conditions expected to persist until December 18.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in several parts of the city till December 18. Starting Thursday, temperatures are likely to drop by two to three degrees Celsius, with the residents bracing for dry weather conditions in the coming days.
- Chennai-Nungambakkam: Generally cloudy sky with light rain, and a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius.
- Chennai-Meenambakkam: A generally cloudy sky with light rain, and a maximum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22 degrees Celsius.
- Chennai-Ennore: A generally cloudy sky with light rain, and a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius.
- Chennai-Madhavaram: The IMD has issued a yellow alert for one or two spells of heavy rain and thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius.
