AT LEAST six people have been killed in a road accident after a pickup vehicle carrying over two dozen people was hit by a truck in Chhattisgarh's Baloda Bazaar district, the Police said.
According to Police, the incident took place near Goda Bridge under Palari Police Station limits on Monday. A child and woman are also among those killed in the accident.
"A pickup vehicle carrying over 2 dozen people was hit by a truck leaving six dead. The accident took place near Goda Bridge under Palari Police Station limits," said Deepak Jha, a senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Baloda Bazaar, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel expressed his grief over the tragedy that took place in Baloda Bazaar today announcing financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased.
He also instructed the officers of the district administration to provide all possible help to the relatives of the deceased.
"The death of 6 people in a collision between a truck and a pickup vehicle near Gowda Pulia in the Thana Palari area of Balodabazar district is very sad. May God give courage to the families of the deceased. We are all together in sorrow. The officials of the district administration have been directed to provide all possible help to the relatives of the deceased and best treatment facilities to the injured in this accident," Baghel wrote in a Hindi Tweet.

"We are all together in this hour of grief. In this difficult time, I announce to give Rs 4 lakh to the families of all the deceased for help," he added further.
A similar road accident was reported in February this year where two persons were killed while 12 others were injured when a speeding tractor-trolley was overturned near Sankar village in the Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh.
The incident occurred near the Akaltara Police Station area when the tractor-trolley carrying over 30 people was returning from a fair in Parsahi Nala on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
