A couple was found dead inside their home in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur on Monday, with messages written in lipstick pointing to a possible murder-suicide driven by blame, heartbreak and desperation. The deceased were identified as 30-year-old Shivani Tambe and her husband, Raj Tambe.

According to an NDTV report, police said Shivani Tambe, also known as Neha, was found dead on the bed, while her husband, Raj Tambe, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. Messages written on the wall included the name and mobile number of a man identified as Rajesh Vishwas, accusing him of disturbing the couple’s marriage. One message read, “We are dying because of Rajesh Vishwas,” while another emotional note said, “Children, I love you.” The writings also suggested frequent quarrels over Shivani’s phone calls and Raj’s increasing suspicions.

The couple, who had been living together for nearly a decade after a love marriage, worked as cleaners in a private company and were raising three young children. Neighbours said frequent arguments had become a routine occurrence, often fuelled by mistrust and allegations of infidelity.

On November 24, when neither Raj nor Neha stepped out of their home till afternoon, Neha’s mother, Reena Chinna, grew worried and went to check on them. The door was locked from inside. After managing to open it, she saw Neha’s body lying dead on the bed and Raj hanging from the ceiling fan.

Forensic experts found scratch marks on Neha’s neck, suggesting she may have been strangled before Raj died by suicide. A note recovered from the room echoed the accusations scrawled on the walls, further supporting the murder-suicide angle.

However, police are examining every possibility. The writings, suicide note, injuries and the sequence of events are all under detailed investigation. City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Nimitesh Singh confirmed that both bodies were found in the same room and that a case has been registered. “All angles are being investigated,” he said, adding that the forensic report will be key to establishing what truly happened.
