In a chilling incident that’s left the city of Raipur reeling, a 16-year-old girl allegedly killed her boyfriend, Mohammad Saddam, by slitting his throat with a knife he had once used to threaten her. The tragic event took place in Avon Lodge, under the Ganj police station’s jurisdiction, where the body was discovered on Sunday.
The young man’s body was found on Sunday, soaked in blood, after the girl confessed to her mother that she’d slit his throat with a knife, the same one he’d used to threaten her during a heated moment.
The young girl, a resident of Bilaspur’s Koni police station area, had traveled to Raipur on September 28 to meet Saddam, a guy originally from Bihar who worked as an MS Engineering officer in Abhanpur. They’d been at the lodge since Saturday, but things between them were far from okay. Police say their relationship was unraveling, especially after Saddam pushed her to get an abortion for her three-month pregnancy. Things got uglier when he allegedly pulled a knife on her during a fight outside the lodge.
On the night of September 28, while Saddam slept, the girl grabbed that same knife and used it to end his life. Afterward, she locked the room, slipped out with his phone, and tossed the key near some railway tracks as she made her escape. By Sunday morning, she was back in Bilaspur, spilling everything to her mom. Her mother didn’t hesitate, taking her straight to the Koni police station which led Raipur police to the grim discovery of Saddam’s body.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to reach Saddam’s family in Bihar. The girl, now in custody, is being questioned to piece together the events leading to the killing. Police suspect that repeated arguments over her pregnancy, combined with Saddam’s alleged threats, may have pushed her to the breaking point.
“This appears to be both a crime of passion and desperation. The investigation will determine whether it was premeditated or a spur-of-the-moment act,” an investigating officer told NDTV.
