The two injured police personnel, from the Narayanpur district police, are undergoing treatment and are reported to be stable.
Earlier in October, at least 30 Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in Maad area along the Narayanpur-Dantewada border in Chhattisgarh's Bastar Maoist-infested region, news agency ANI reported.
According to the police, a joint party of Narayanpur Police and Dantewada Police was involved in the encounter. The death toll of the Naxalites rose steadily over the hours following the outbreak of the gunfight. A large number of automatic weapons were recovered from the neutralised Naxals.
Lauding the security personnel involved in the operation, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai asserted that Naxalism is about to end in Chhattisgarh. "It's a big operation. I congratulate all the police personnel and I bow to their valour... Naxalism is taking its last breath... Naxalism is certainly going to be eliminated from the state...Union Home Minister Amit Shah has visited the state twice in nine months regarding Naxalism and he has this resolve that we have to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026," he stated.
