MP Accident: 10 Dead, Over 20 Injured In Chhindwara Bus-Truck Collision; CM Announces Ex-Gratia

A bus returning from Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav's 'Beneficiary Conference met with an accident on Thursday evening near Semaria Hanuman Temple, within the Mohkhed police station limits of Chhindwara district. The collision between the bus and a truck resulted in at least 10 fatalities and left over 20 people critically injured.

Details Of Incident

The accident took place around 6:30 pm in the Umranala area. The impact between the truck and the passenger bus (traveling from Bhandarkund Karer) was so severe that the bus overturned, trapping several passengers inside.

Casualties: The deceased include six men, three women and one child.

Severity: Eyewitnesses described a gruesome scene, reporting that the force of the crash caused catastrophic injuries, including severed limbs and major head trauma.

Traffic Impact: The collision caused a massive traffic jam stretching 4 to 5 kilometers, which authorities worked to clear throughout the evening.

Rescue And Medical Response

Immediately following the crash, over 20 ambulances arrived at the site. Local residents, police personnel, and administrative teams used cranes to extract those trapped in the wreckage.

Hospitalisation: All 41 passengers on board were transported to the district hospital.

Emergency Measures: Chhindwara SP Ajay Pandey confirmed that a medical emergency alert was issued at the district hospital to ensure the injured received immediate and specialised care.

Government Relief And Compensation

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has expressed deep grief over the incident and announced immediate financial assistance for the victims:

Ex-gratia: Rs 4 lakh each for the families of the deceased.

Injury Relief: Rs 1 lakh each for those who sustained serious injuries.

Urgent Medical And Administrative Response

The Chief Minister has directed authorities to ensure the highest quality of care for the survivors. To bolster local efforts, specialised medical teams from Jabalpur are being dispatched to both Chhindwara and Nagpur to assist with treatment.

The victims were participants of a state-organised conference in Chhindwara, where CM Dr Mohan Yadav was the chief guest. The tragedy struck while the bus was ferrying the attendees back toward Umranala after the event concluded.
