Tensions are growing between the West Bengal government and the Election Commission of India over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the voter list in the state. During a Republic Day event held at Lok Bhavan (the governor's residence), Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee made it clear that she would soon visit Delhi.

This time, the strategy of Trinamool Congress (TMC) is to corner the BJP and EC not only at the state level but also at the national level.

Mamata to visit Delhi

During a massive rally in Kolkata on November 4, Mamata Banerjee's nephew and Trinamool Congress national general secretary, MP Abhishek Banerjee, had threatened to march to Delhi with 1,00,000 supporters if even a single valid voter's name was removed from the voter list. Now, CM Mamata has taken charge and confirmed her visit to Delhi.

Political circles are buzzing that Mamata Banerjee's visit could take place during the budget session, so that she can join forces with opposition parties to launch a campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the central government. The TMC leadership claims it has caught the EC red-handed in alleged "rigging" in Bengal.

Irregularities detected at booth level

According to party sources, cited by Jagran.com, Trinamool Congress believes that while opposition parties failed to detect irregularities in states like Bihar, Haryana, and Maharashtra, in Bengal, it has exposed the irregularities at the booth level.

CM Mamata wants to go to Delhi and send a message to the nation about how the public is being harassed in the name of SIR, and the names of legitimate citizens are being deleted.

Trinamool leaders argue that this movement will increase CM Mamata's national acceptance and position her as a strong figure within the opposition alliance (INDIA).

While the final date for the Delhi visit hasn't been finalised, the Chief Minister's stance has sparked political turmoil from Bengal to Delhi.
