BookMyShow filed a police complaint over the ticket scalping for Coldplay’s upcoming India tour. BookMyShow reiterated that only tickets purchased through its official channels would be honoured and warned fans to avoid being duped by counterfeit tickets circulating on the black market.
The online ticket selling platform condemned the unauthorised resale of tickets and issued a statement distancing itself from platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg, where tickets are being sold at inflated prices.

The issue came as Coldplay’s "Music of the Spheres World Tour" tickets went on sale for their India concerts, scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at Mumbai’s DY Patil Sports Stadium. High demand overwhelmed BookMyShow’s website and app, causing server crashes and long wait times.

According to reports, approximately 1.3 crore people attempted to access the platform, leading to widespread frustration as many fans were unable to secure tickets.
Compounding the issue, tickets were soon being resold on unauthorised platforms at inflated prices. While the official prices ranged from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,500, with premium lounge seats available for Rs 35,000, resellers listed them at significantly higher amounts. Fans took to social media to express their anger over the inflated resale prices, further highlighting the challenges in obtaining tickets through legitimate means.
