Alleging that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has expressed "bonhomie" with China during his visit to the country to take part in the SCO Foreign Ministers meeting, Congress on Tuesday said Beijing had fully supported Pakistan during Operation Sindoor and instead of "a stern response", the Union Minister has "praised China". In a statement, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate accused Jaishankar of "insulting" armed forces with his remarks that the bilateral ties have been improving since October last year.
"On July 14, 2025, during a meeting with the Chinese Vice President, Foreign Minister Jaishankar stated that India-China bilateral relations 'have been steadily improving since the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan last October.' One wonders in which world the Foreign Minister is living to make such a statement, and how much more will he insult our brave armed forces?" she alleged. She also referred to remarks of Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Rahul R. Singh about China's support to Pakistan during the conflict.
"It has been 85 days since the Pahalgam terror attack, and not a single terrorist has been arrested so far, in fact it seems not even one may have been identified so far. During this time, the Deputy Chief of our armed forces has clearly stated, without mincing words, that when we were teaching Pakistan a lesson, we were not fighting Pakistan alone; we actually fought Pakistan and China combined. This was the very issue Rahul Gandhiji had warned the government about in Parliament, but the consequences of ignoring it are now being borne by the entire nation," she said.
"Lieutenant General Rahul R Singh, Vice Chief of the Indian Army, stated that India fought three enemies during Operation Sindoor, including China. China provided Pakistan with 'live inputs,' meaning real-time intelligence. However, despite all this, instead of showing China a stern response, Modi's Foreign Minister is shaking hands, smiling and posing with the Chinese Vice President - as if nothing has happened at all, and he is in fact praising China," she alleged.
Shrinate said Pakistan used network-based platforms in this operation, along with war systems and weapons such as J-10C fighters, PL-15E air-to-air missiles, and drones--courtesy China and Turkey. India had launched Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK in response to Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. India effectively repelled subsequent escalation by Pakistan and pounded its airbases.
