A rare moment of bonhomie across party lines in the arena of politics was captured by cameras at an event in Indore when Congress MLA Sanjay Shukla touched the feet of BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, who will be his likely opponent in the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly election. A video of the incident went viral on social media, garnering mostly positive reaction from users. 

In the video, Shukla can be seen touching Vijayvargiya's feet, while the latter pats Shukla on the back. The duo then proceed to share a hug, following which they pose for a photograph together. The video shows the two leaders being surrounded by people presumed to be their respective supporters.

Notably, Vijayvargiya has been given a ticket by his party from the Indore-1 assembly constituency from where Shukla is the present MLA. Congress is yet to release its list of candidates for the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls while the ruling BJP has already announced two lists of candidates

The Central Election Committee meeting of Congress to finalise candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections took place in Delhi on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Election Commission announced the dates for Assembly Elections that are to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Rajsthan.

Polling in Madhya Pradesh will be held in a single phase on November, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced during a press conference. The counting of votes for the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election will be conducted alongside that for the other four states on December 3, the EC said.
