The Congress Party is holding intensive brainstorming sessions in Ahmedabad, with top leaders charting a roadmap for the party's future strategy. The two-day event is expected to see the participation of over 3,000 Congress members. The AICC meeting in Ahmedabad will focus on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
As Day 1 of the crucial deliberations ended, senior Congress leader KC Venugopal said the party has dedicated this year to rebuilding its organisation and a "massive organisational reshuffle" was in the offing. He said the issue was extensively discussed by the top leaders of the party.

"We are going to have a massive organisational reshuffle, and there will be guidelines for the same. Our general secretaries and in-charges are on it," he said.
He said a mechanism to empower the party's district unit chiefs will soon come into force. "We have already decided on that issue, empowering the DCC presidents and duties and powers of the DCCs has been discussed in various forums, already general secretaries and in-charges have approved the proposals and we are going to roll out that proposal in the near future," Venugopal said.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also said the CWC meeting was an opportunity to discuss the issues of strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
"Several changes are being brought to the party organisation. The responsibility of growing the organisation is on the party workers. This AICC meet is the prelude to all of us working together. Various aspects of organisational building would be discussed under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. We had a convention of party district presidents in New Delhi last week," he said.
Senior Party leader Sachin Pilot also said the party intends to strengthen itself at the district level and more empowered district units will be created.

The intention of the Congress president and the Leader of the Opposition is to create a more empowered district unit. The accountability, the responsibility and the political strength that we have thus given to the district presidents is set to be enhanced," he said.
