The Congress has joined hands with Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party and has declared candidates for 13 out of the 17 seats in its share of the Lok Sabha polls. But the party is still to declare candidates for four seats, with Amethi and Rae Bareli being the most important. 

Rae Bareli's seat is also a prime hope for the Congress leader in the state. As the poll date comes closer, one question is flashing in the minds of the workers: whether Rahul Gandhi from Amethi and Priyanka Vadra from Rae Bareli will contest the elections or not. 

The alliance between the SP and Congress was announced on February 21. Even after more than a month, Congress has not been able to finalize the names of candidates for its traditional seats, Amethi and Rae Bareli, as well as in Mathura and Prayagraj.

According to jagran.com, Congress leaders admit that this indecision is having a direct impact on the morale of its workers. Organizations and officials have conveyed to the central leadership the demand of every worker to contest elections for Rahul Gandhi from Amethi and Priyanka Vadra from Rae Bareli.

Priyanka, who was in-charge of Uttar Pradesh after Sonia Gandhi left Rae Bareli's seat, is being considered the most suitable candidate. A senior Congress leader said that if Priyanka will carry on the legacy of her grandmother Indira Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi from this seat, then the workers will definitely get a lifeline.

The demand for fielding Priyanka was also raised in the state level training camp held recently in Lucknow, where every official who met state in-charge Avinash Pandey and state president Ajay Rai sent a 'letter' to the workers of their district, the content of which was only to 'Convince Rahul bhaiya from Amethi and Priyanka didi from Rae Bareli to contest the elections by any means'.

The discussion is also being heard loudly in the state headquarters of the party that if the sentiments of the workers are not respected, then the enthusiasm aroused during Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will cool down even before the elections. According to party sources, after Rahul Gandhi's announcement of contesting the Wayanad seat, there is an internal discussion about other candidates for this seat.
