New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In what could be a cause of worry, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that 186 COVID-19 cases that were reported in the national capital on Saturday were asymptomatic and they did not show symptoms of the dreadful infection.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Kejriwal appealed to people living in containment areas to follow rules and don't step out of their homes, adding that the state government will not relax the lockdown.
"All the 186 COVID-19 positive cases that were reported yesterday were asymptomatic, they didn’t know they had coronavirus. This is more worrying," Kejriwal said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
Kejriwal further said that ne of those 186, was working as a volunteer at the food distribution centre of Delhi government, adding that he has ordered rapid testing at the centre.
"Coronavirus has been spreading rapidly in Delhi but the situation is still under control. The containment zones are increasing where Operation Shield is implemented. As of today, there are 77 containment zones in Delhi," Kejriwal said.
This is a worrying factor as the number of coronavirus cases in Delhi have increased at an alarming rate. As per the latest information available at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the deadly virus has infected 1,893 and claimed the lives of 43 people in the national capital.
The Delhi Chief Minister on Sunday also agreed that the coronavirus cases are increasing at an alarming rate. He, however, asserted that the situation in Delhi is 'under control' and urged people to follow the lockdown strictly.
"Delhi is the capital of the country so it is fighting the most difficult fight against the virus. In the last two and a half months, those who came from foreign, they brought coronavirus. It was not there in our country. What happened in Markaz, Delhi faced the brunt of it," Kejriwal said.
