New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In what could be a cause of concern, a doctor, a nurse and one staff in support duty at the Max Hospital Saketin New Delhi have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Following this, the hospital has quarantined several of its members.
"A doctor, a nurse and one staff in support duty have tested positive. However, the doctor has in all probability acquired the infection from outside the hospital (Max Hospital, Saket, Delhi)," said a Max Hospital spokesperson, as quoted by ANI.
This comes after the hospital asked 39 staff members, including doctors and nurses, to self-quarantine themselves after two cancer patients tested positive for coronavirus.
"Two patients admitted for cardiac treatment tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. 39 healthcare workers, who were contact traced, have been quarantined with in a separate and isolated wing at Max Hospital, Saket," the hospital said in a statement.
In another statement, the hospital said that the 39 people will be tested again on April 14, 2020. "There are 154 employees deployed in shifts in the Covid ward of Max Hospital, Saket. None of these employees has had any exposure to the virus," the hospital said.
Earlier in a similar incident, 30 healthcare workers including doctors, nurses and technicians at the Cardio-Neuro Centre at AIIMS in Delhi were advised to undergo quarantine after a 72-year-old man who visited the facility with neurological problem tested positive for the infection.
The patient had reported to the emergency with brain stroke symptoms around two days back and was immediately shifted to the Neurology ward N-S5 for evaluation and treatment.
Delhi has become one of the hotspot of the novel coronavirus in India. The city-state has reported 1,154 confirmed cases of the infection so far. According to the Health Ministry data, the novel coronavirus has claimed the lives of 24 in the national capital so far.
