Mumbai | Jagran News Desk: In what could be a huge cause of concern, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said that 80 per cent of the total coronavirus cases in Maharashtra were 'asymptomatic'.
Addressing the media via video conference, Thackeray said that the next three or four months are going to be very important for the state, adding that the virus needs to be "destroyed completely".
"We have 80 per cent patients who are asymptomatic and 20 per cent are there who have mild, serious or critical symptoms. We have to see how these people are also saved. Those who are hiding it and not getting tested, if you have symptoms please go and get tested," said Uddhav Thackeray.

Speaking about the situation of the migrant workers in the state, Thackeray said that his government is in touch with the Centre and will do everything possible to improve the situation.
"I assure the migrant labourers that I am talking to the Centre and whatever is possible will be done soon. One thing is sure that trains are not starting because we don't want a crowd, otherwise, lockdown will be needed to be further extended," he said.
He also thanked the people for cooperating for not celebrating Ramzan and Akshaya Tritiya on roads, saying everyone must thank those (Police, Doctors, cleanliness workers and others) who are serving the state in these hard times.
Maharashtra has been worst-hit by coronavirus in India. As per the latest information available at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state has reported over 7,600 confirmed cases of the dreadful infection while more than 300 people have died so far.
In wake of the surging COVID-19 cases in the state, the ongoing lockdown might get extended, a senior state official has said.
As per the state official, Maharashtra government is is closely monitoring the situation in areas outside the cities of Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Amravati.
"It is the cities where most of the COVID-19 cases are concentrated. If the state has to relax its current stringent lockdown measures, it would be in rural and least affected areas of the state. However, we are looking at the scenario as rural and urban areas are connected," he said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Despite minimum COVID-19 cases in rural areas of Pune district, the industries there have not resumed because most of their workforce live in cities, he said.
"We need to work out some plans for every city or district-wise to get things moving. The administration needs more time to come up with solutions, hence it is highly unlikely to lift the lockdown restrictions May 3 onwards in all parts of the state," the official said.
