Covid 19 cases are steadily increasing across the country, with the number of active infections now reaching 3,758. Kerala continues to report the highest number of active cases at 1,400, followed by Maharashtra with 485 and Delhi with 436.
In just the past 48 hours, over 1,000 new cases have been recorded. According to the Health Department, there have been 28 deaths attributed to the virus since January.
On Saturday, a 63-year-old man in Bengaluru passed away. He had received both doses of the vaccine as well as a booster dose. In Delhi, a 60-year-old elderly man also died due to this viral infection. Kerala and Maharashtra have reported the highest number of deaths, with 7 each.
The Karnataka government issued an advisory on Saturday, urging people to avoid crowded places and wear masks. Besides, people have been advised to get tested immediately if they experience fever, cough, chest pain or difficulty breathing.
Mizoram reported its first Covid case in seven months, as two individuals tested positive for the virus on Friday. Health officials reported that the last case in the state was recorded seven months ago. The Covid-positive patients are being treated at Zoram Medical College and Hospital (ZMCH) near Falkawn, close to Aizawl. The state’s Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) has urged the public not to panic.

As Delhi witnesses a rise in Covid cases, a student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) residing in its Godavari Hostel has tested positive. The students' union has demanded immediate action from the administration.
