Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department on Sunday stated that Delhi is likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till June 5. The weather department stated that along with rainfall, the residents of the national capital are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. It further stated that the rainfall is expected to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the scorching heat. Apart from this, the IMD also confirmed that the air quality of the national capital is likely to improve for the next few days.

While providing details, the weather department stated that Delhi residents are expected to witness cloudy skies throughout Sunday and for the next few days. It further stated that there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds at the speed of 40 to 50 kmph, and moderate rain, further adding that the wind speed can also go up to 60 kmph.

The weather department also stated that the temperature is likely to be reduced, adding that while the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 38 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 27 degrees Celsius.

Apart from this, the IMD also stated that the air quality is also likely to improve in the upcoming few days. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) informed that Delhi's AQI was recorded at 193 at 10 am on Sunday. The department further stated that the AQI of nearby cities is satisfactory, adding that it will not change in the near future.

The IMD also stated that several southern and eastern states are also expected to receive light to heavy rainfall till June 5. An advisory from the Karnataka government informed that pre-monsoon rainfall in the state has broken a 125-year-old record. The advisory stated that 71 people have already lost their lives due to excessive pre-monsoon rains in the state since April.
