Rains Fury In Northeast: The northeast region has been receiving heavy rains for the last few days, affecting normal life in the seven sister states. The incessant rains triggered flood flash and landslides in the hilly regions in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Mizoram, claiming at least 16 lives in different rain-related incidents.
Children, Women Among Seven Killed In Arunachal Landslides
Seven people have been killed due to a landslide on the National Highway in Seppa West assembly constituency, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung said on Saturday.
He expressed condolences over the loss of life in the incident that occurred between Bana village and the Seppa area and advised people to avoid travelling at night during the monsoon season.
"It's very painful to hear about the tragic loss of seven lives in my Assembly constituency due to a landslide on NH 13 Road in between Bana & Seppa. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families during this difficult time. I request everyone to remain vigilant and avoid travelling at night during the monsoon season. My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected. May their souls rest in peace. Om Shanti Shanti," Natung posted on X. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also offered condolences.
Assam: Landslides Claim Five lives, Including Children In Kamrup
At least five people, including children, were killed in landslides in Kamrup (Metro) district over the last 24 hours, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported.
According to a preliminary report released at 9:00 AM today, urban flooding has affected three districts--Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), and Cachar--impacting five Revenue Circles and a total of 10,150 people, ASDMA added.
Meanwhile, three landslide incidents have been reported in Guwahati yesterday. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has warned that continued downpours in Guwahati could lead to waterlogging, slow traffic movement, and increased risk of trees falling and localised landslides.
Mizoram: Flash Floods And Landslides Kill Four
Flash floods and multiple landslide incidents in Mizoram have killed four people in the last 24 hours, as per officials. As per reports of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)s of various districts of Mizoram, several landslides have taken place in Aizwal, Lunglei, Champhai, Kolasib, Serchhip, Lawngtlai, Mamit, Saitual, Khawzawl and Hnahthial districts in last 24 hours causing damaged to several houses, roads, leaving people affected.

As per the DDMA reports, three people of a family died in the flash floods in Champhai district, while another died in Serchhip district.
Meanwhile, another person has been trapped in debris, as per the district administration. Mizoram Governor General VK Singh in a post on X expressed grief on the death of the people.
"I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and widespread damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall in Mizoram. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and those who have lost their homes and properties. I pray for the speedy recovery of all injured. I commend the tireless efforts of all involved in the rescue operations amidst this crisis. As heavy rains persist, I urge everyone, especially those in disaster-prone areas, to remain vigilant and exercise utmost caution," the post read.
