Covid-19 In Haryana: Haryana’s Gurugram reported two cases of Covid-19 involving a 62-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman. Both have a travel history from Mumbai. After the cases came to light, Gurugram Chief Medical Officer assured the public that there is no cause for concern as of now. The variant of the coronavirus is not yet confirmed in the cases.
“Both cases have very mild symptoms and are undergoing home isolation. There is no need to panic. It is an endemic (disease) now. Many people with symptoms are likely to test positive,” Dr Alka Singh told reporters on Thursday.
A security guard (28) from Faridabad has also tested positive at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital while undergoing treatment for symptoms, the Indian Express reported, quoting sources.
After a surge in Covid-19 infections in Southeast Asia, India too witnessed a spike in cases, majority of them coming from Maharashtra, Kerala, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. However, as per authorities, all the cases are mild and not severe.
Though the World Health Organization declared the pandemic over last year, the virus continues to circulate globally. In India, most recent cases have been mild with no serious complications. Health experts advise vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with health issues to continue basic safety measures like mask-wearing indoors and frequent hand washing. They also recommend influenza vaccination to protect against possible co-infections.
