The Central Revenues Control Laboratory (CRCL) and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance coordination and strengthen enforcement under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The signing was presided over by Surjit Bhujabal, Special Secretary and Member (Customs), CBIC, and Dr JM Vyas, Vice Chancellor, NFSU.

The MoU, signed by Prof (Dr) SO Junare, Campus Director, NFSU-Gandhinagar, and V Suresh, Director, CRCL, aims to boost India's capacity to investigate and prosecute NDPS violations by promoting innovation and knowledge exchange in forensic science. It will also facilitate joint training programs and research initiatives to address emerging drug-related challenges.

The partnership seeks to produce scientifically validated, court-admissible forensic evidence, empowering enforcement agencies for quicker and more effective legal action.

Senior officials including Pranesh Pathak, Chief Commissioner of Customs-Ahmedabad; Shiv Kumar Sharma, Principal Commissioner of Customs, Ahmedabad; R Ananth, Director, Customs-CBIC; and academic leaders from NFSU also attended the ceremony, marking a significant step forward in India’s fight against narcotic crimes.
