Cyclone Ditwah Live Updates: The cyclonic storm that grew out of a deep depression near Sri Lanka and formed over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday is steadily tracking north-northwest and likely to hit the Tamil Nadu coast on November 30.

The neighbouring country has suffered severe damage due to cyclonic storm 'Ditwah', as the Island has recorded a total of 123 deaths in the past few days. On the other hand, 300 Indians are stranded at Colombo airport. 

According to IMD, Cyclone Ditwah is likely to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast by early November 30, with a forecast of heavy rain in the southern and Cauvery delta districts of the state from November 29 to 30.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, four other states are likely to experience the impact of the cyclonic storm. These states are Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The weather department has issued a red alert for Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Chengalpattu and Puducherry due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall.

The cyclonic storm has hit Sri Lanka hard, as at least 69 people have been killed so far, and several others are missing, news agency Reuters reported.

Cyclone Ditwah is currently moving at 8 km/h, located approximately 300 km from Puducherry and 400 km south of Chennai.

    India Sends NDRF Teams, Relief Material To Sri Lanka

    The Indian government has rushed rescue teams and relief material to Sri Lanka after cyclonic storm Ditwah, which caused severe damage to the country, with at least 69 lives lost due to the atmospheric system. 

    As per the NDRF,  two teams comprising 80 rescuers were sent to Sri Lanka early on Friday on the instructions of the Central government. Apart from manpower, India sent about 21 tonnes of relief material, including tents, blankets, mattresses, dignity kits and other essential items.
