Will Cyclone Mocha Hit West Bengal
As the weather forecasting, the cyclonic storm that is forming in the Bay of Bengal was expected to hit West Bengal on May 8 but it may not hit the region. The storm seems to be veering towards Myanmar and Bangladesh. However, IMD issued a heatwave warning in southern districts of Bengal, including Kolkata as temperatures are expected to shoot up due to the warm winds amid the influence of cyclone Mocha.
Following the expected cyclone in the state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked people to not panic as the state government is equipped to handle the situation.
"No need to fear the cyclone...If there come different circumstances, we will rescue people from coastal areas as the cyclone will move to Bangladesh and then Myanmar," West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said, according to ANI.
