Cyclone Shakti Live Updates: Maharashtra is on alert as Cyclone Shakti intensifies over the Arabian Sea. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued high to moderate cyclone warnings for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg between October 3 and 7. Officials said the storm is the first post-monsoon cyclone to form in the Arabian Sea this year and has strengthened into a severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds of around 100 kmph.

As of Saturday morning, the system was located about 420 km from Dwarka in Gujarat, moving further into the Arabian Sea. The storm is expected to shift west-southwest and later recurve east-northeast from Monday, gradually weakening thereafter.

The IMD has forecast winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, along the North Maharashtra coast between October 3 and 5. Fishermen have been strictly warned against venturing into the sea as conditions will remain rough to very rough.

The Maharashtra government has activated disaster management units and directed coastal districts to prepare evacuation plans, issue advisories and ensure public safety. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been predicted in Marathwada, East Vidarbha and parts of North Konkan, with the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
