The Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, criticised Southern Railway on Saturday after the Railway reportedly made students sing an RSS song onboard the newly inaugurated Vande Bharat Express from Ernakulam to Bengaluru.
The Chief Minister's Office (CMO), in a statement, said that the southern railway deserves to be protested. The Chief Minister Pinnarayi Vijayan, in an X post, said that by sharing the video, railway authorities have "exposed how eminent national institutions are being subverted by Sangh Parivar politics" and called on secular forces to resist this 'dangerous move.'
The Chief Minister condemned the inclusion of an RSS song, which is accused of promoting religious hatred and divisive politics, in an official government event, calling it a clear violation of constitutional values.
The @GMSRailway making students sing the RSS anthem at the flag-off of the Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express is highly condemnable. Including the anthem of an organisation known for its communal ideology and hate mongering in an official event is a blatant violation of…

He further slammed the Sangh Parivar for allegedly misusing Indian Railways, the nation’s largest public sector entity, to push communal propaganda. He further declared such action as unacceptable.
He further claimed that posting videos of students singing the RSS song on the train, captioned as a 'patriotic song,' insults Southern Railway and mocks the Indian freedom struggle.
Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, VD Satheesan, said that making students sing the RSS song as part of a government programme was 'illegal and undemocratic'.
He alleged that the BJP was trying to implement in Kerala the politics of division as seen in northern India.
"Just as it uses constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, for political purposes, the central government is now using the Indian Railways for communal propaganda," Satheesan claimed.

Southern Railway took down the controversial social media post amid a storm of backlash. Hours later, it re-posted the same student video on X, this time including an English translation of the song.
