Dehradun-Mussoorie Ropeway Updates: The construction of the Dehradun-Mussoorie ropeway is advancing at a brisk pace, with completion expected by 2026. Once operational, tourists will be able to travel from Dehradun to Mussoorie in just 15 minutes, reducing the current travel time of 1.5 to 3 hours by road during the peak tourism season.

The ropeway will span a distance of 5.5 kilometres, compared to the 33-kilometre road journey. Automatic passenger trolleys, equipped with automatic doors, will have the capacity to transport 1,300 passengers per hour in one direction. Travellers will enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains while bypassing the traffic congestion that frequently disrupts the journey during tourism seasons.

Built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of Rs 300 crore, the ropeway is expected to enhance Uttarakhand's tourism revenue and create employment opportunities in Purkul village. The project also aims to decrease pollution and provide a sustainable, year-round travel option. The ropeway will operate seamlessly in all weather conditions, ensuring uninterrupted tourist access even during rains or snowfall, which often block roads due to landslides and debris.
