A major road accident took place on the Sahiya-Quanu motor road on Sunday evening after a car lost control and plunged into a deep ditch near Kaletha, Dehradun, leaving two people dead and three others seriously injured. The tourists were reportedly from Uttar Pradesh and were returning from Moila Top.
Accident Occurred Around 5 PM
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 5 pm when the car was approaching Kaletha. The vehicle suddenly went out of control, veered off the road and fell into the ditch.
Upon hearing the sound of the explosion, locals of the area immediately reached the spot and started a rescue operation and soon informed the police about the incident.
Injured Shifted to Hospital
Upon learning of the crash incident, police in the area, along with the 108 emergency ambulance service, rushed to the spot. With assistance from locals and rescue teams, all three occupants were retrieved from the pit in a precarious condition.
All three were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Sahiya, via the 108 ambulance service. Official sources said they are in a critical condition and undergoing treatment.

Police Begin Investigation
Police have taken custody of the bodies of the two deceased and initiated the process of identifying both the victims and the injured. Their families will be informed once their identities are confirmed.
Officials said the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is underway.
