Delhi Air Pollution:  The extreme air pollution in Delhi has prompted the Central government to institute staggered work hours for its employees. The Union personnel ministry has issued an order advising ministries, departments, and organisations to implement these modifications in order to lessen the negative effects on health without compromising productivity.

"These measures may be adopted by ministries/departments/organisations as per their functional requirements, while ensuring that efficiency and productivity are not adversely affected in any way," the order issued by the ministry on Thursday said.

Employees are encouraged to pool their cars and use public transportation to reduce vehicle emissions in order to further reduce pollution. Depending on their functional requirements, offices will now be open from 9 AM to 5:30 PM or from 10 AM to 6:30 PM.

Delhi's air quality is still classified as "very poor," despite a minor improvement. This effort was implemented in response to requests from Central Secretariat Service personnel for work-from-home choices and air purifiers.

Employees' productivity has been impacted by symptoms like respiratory problems and exhaustion brought on by the bad air quality.

In order to lessen traffic congestion and pollution on the roadways, CM Atishi and LG VK Saxena had already set varied office hours for MCD and state government personnel. In an effort to lessen pollution in the state, the Delhi government has also sent a letter to the Centre about artificial rain.
