The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital Delhi crossed 300 on Monday, i.e. deteriorated to very poor category. After the alert from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) held an emergency meeting and implemented the second phase of GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) in NCR.
Under GRAP-2, 11-point provisions and restrictions have been implemented. Under GRAP-2, diesel generators will be banned in residential, commercial and industrial units from 8 AM today, Tuesday, except for emergency services.
Delhi Is The Most Polluted City In the Country
According to the AQI report of 238 cities of the country released by CPCB, Delhi was the most polluted city in the country on Monday. The AQI of the national capital was 310. Earlier, on October 19, the AQI was 306. The air quality in Delhi will remain in the very poor category for the next three days. The AQI of the national capital has clinged to the very poor category after four months.
These Restrictions To Be Implementer Under GRAP Stage 2
- Ban on diesel generators in residential, commercial and industrial units.
- Instructions have been given to increase parking fees, frequency of CNG-electric buses and metro.
- Exemption given for use of diesel generators for emergency services.
- Under GRAP-2, CAQM has given instructions to increase the parking fee so that the pressure of private vehicles on the roads is reduced.
- Apart from this, instructions have been given to increase the frequency of CNG and electric buses as well as metro in NCR.
- CAQM has appealed to people to abandon their personal vehicles and use public transport.
- Do not carry out dust-generating construction work till January.
- Do not burn wood or garbage in the open.
